2021 Beginning Beekeepers Workshop

Interested in beekeeping, but unsure about how to start? Have questions? This informative workshop will help you learn how to work with honey bees in North Carolina.

The 2021 Bee School will be held January 9 – 30, 2021 via Zoom.

Workshop Details

Online Sessions: Four Saturdays, January 9-30, 2021, 9 – 11 am plus small break out groups after the online sessions.
Recorded sessions will be available online if missed and for review.
Practical: TBA spring/summer 2021
Class Location: via Zoom
Workshop cost: $40

The course fee includes:
  • First Lessons in Beekeeping book (Delaplane)
  • One year NCSBA membership
  • One year WCBA membership
  • Oppotrunity to join a mentored small group for new beekeepers.
  • Certification Testing for NC State Beekeepers Association (NCSBA) members

Become a Certified Beekeeper

Become a Certified Beekeeper
Certification will be offered through the NC Master Beekeeper Program.  A written certified test will be administered after the online course on February 6.  A practical test, where participants learn and demonstrate hands-on experience in the hives, will be offered monthly between March and September. You must be a member of the NCSBA (included in registration fee) to become a NC Certified Beekeeper. 

Bring a Kid for Free

One child per registered adult may attend free with no other benefits included. If the child wants to become a Certified Beekeeper, the child must pay the $15 to join the NCSBA.
