2020 Beginning Beekeepers Workshop

Interested in beekeeping, but unsure about how to start? Have questions? This informative workshop will help you learn how to work with honey bees in North Carolina.

Workshop Details

Classroom: Saturday, March 14, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Practical: Sunday, March 22, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. (tentative date, weather dependent)
Class Location: Wake County Commons Building, 4011 Carya Drive, Raleigh, NC 27610
Workshop cost: TBA

The course fee includes:
  • First Lessons in Beekeeping book (Delaplane)
  • One year NCSBA membership
  • One year WCBA membership
  • Lunch on Saturday, March 14
  • Monthly “hands on” instruction
  • Certification Testing for NC State Beekeepers Association (NCSBA) members

Become a Certified Beekeeper

Become a Certified Beekeeper
Certification will be offered through the NC Master Beekeeper Program.  A written certified test will be administered at the end of the class on Saturday.  A practical test, where participants learn and demonstrate hands-on experience in the hives, will be offered monthly between March and September. You must be a member of the NCSBA (included in registration fee) to become a NC Certified Beekeeper. 

Bring a Kid for Free

One child per registered adult may attend free with no other benefits included. A child’s lunch can be purchased the day of the class. If the child wants to become a Certified Beekeeper, the child must pay the $15 to join the NCSBA.
