The WCBA workshop for beginning beekeepers will be held Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the Raleigh Police Club, 3500 Leonard Road, Knightdale, NC 27545. Classroom instruction from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., followed by administration of the written portion of the Certified level test of the NCSBA Master Beekeeper Program. If you want to take the certified test, you must be a member of the NC State Beekeepers Association (NCSBA). Please join the NCSBA through their website www.ncbeekeepers.org for $15 prior to attending the class, The Practical portion of the test will be given each third Sunday at 1:00 pm during March – September. (You must keep bees for four months before taking the practical test.) Meet at the beehives behind the cotton field at Historic Oakview Park, Carya Drive, Raleigh for the hands-on instruction and administration of the practical segment of the Certified test. The workshop fee is $50, which includes the book First Lessons in Beekeeping, one year membership in the WCBA , and lunch on Saturday. Click below for the registration form. If a NCSBA member wants to take the Certified written test on February 11, or after the hands-on monthly workshop, please e-mail the secretary or treasurer. There is no charge to take the test. The written test will also be administered each 3rd Sunday of April, May, June, July, August, and September at 4:00 p.m. after the practical workshop.
